NEW SILQUAL FUNCTION 

  • DPM (Defect per Million) has become a commonly used unit among glassmakers. Statistical laws allows estimating DPM.
    Because of its complexity, this calculation is rarely performed.

    6 sigma methods have democratised the notion of  sigma level , which gives a note from 1 to 6 to each type of control, and thus qualify the production "perfection level".

    The SIL offers the possibility to edit a new "SPC report" which shows the DPM and the sigma level for each control.

    • vmware virtualisation technics enable us to reduce the SIL architecture from 4 to 2 servers, with following  benefits :

       Better availability thanks to RAID5 and hot plug disks
       Improved performance with new QUADCORE processors with 8GB RAM
       Easier maintenance with DRAC cards

What's new ?


Big investments become difficult, leading our customers to concentrate on continual improvement.

Increasing demands to add new functionalities in SIL, to cover new needs such as TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), glass quality lab, mould management and maintenance, is nowadays very important in Vertech' activity.

This evolution makes the SIL a management tool of every technical data in glass plant and corresponds to Vertech' long term startegy.


 

Intra VERTECH'


  • Benoit Delacourt started managing our American subsidiary based in Fishers, Indiana, nearly a year ago. He has taken office in place of Jean-Baptiste Guignard, who had created Vertech US agency in 2005.

    Benoit has deep technical knowledge of SIL products, acquired during SIL installations in different part of the world and is now  mainly working on Saint Gobain Containers projects.
